The Radeka Family and their sweet garden family session is finally hitting the blog. I am so excited! Kimmy was one of my winners of the 1K giveaway I did. She used her session to update her family photos. When they walked up to me in the cutest outfits I was so excited! I mean look at Kimmy’s dress, it’s to die for right? Kimmy, where did you get it from? I need you to shop for my closet!
Their sweet daughter Kennedy recently turned one, and was so curious the entire session. I loved watching her curiosity as I snapped photos and my camera clicked, as I played peek-a-boo to try and steal a smile, as birds flew by above us, and as the flowers swayed in the wind. It was such a beautiful reminder of the simple beauty around us that we quickly pass by daily. Her curiosity reminded me of my own son, very stoic in his looks as he just takes in everything around him.
Sometimes I think we, as parents, so badly always want that one photo of everyone smiling at the camera (which we did get by the way!) But then sometimes I think we forget about how sweet the memories will be of those in between moments. The moments of our children playing with the flowers swaying in the wind, or getting dirty while playing in the dirt. Capturing them watching the birds fly by and getting undeniably excited. I want your photos to take you back to those sweet innocent memories when you look at them in ten to twenty years. When you’re going through old photographs as your kids are getting ready to graduate high school or getting married. I love the photo of everyone smiling, but I love the in between moments and memories even more.
I so badly want my family photography to head in this direction. The direction of capturing authenticity and sweet memories of the now. The Radeka’s family session was the first session where I was able to implement these practices in place. I know I have a far way to go to accomplish what I so badly want my photographs to portray. I think this session was such a beautiful start!
If you liked this family session, you should check out this one too!
